Associate professor of the Bologna university
Abstract:
Early Marginal Bone Loss (MBL) results in unwanted exposure of the moderately rough implant surface to the microbiome of the oral cavity. Surface roughness determines biofilm formation by facilitating biofilm adhesion, maturation and colonization. Implants with a significant MBL during the first year of function showed a higher probability of future peri-implantitis. Therefore, preventing and minimizing MBL during implant therapy may significantly reduce the risk of peri-implantitis development.
MBL may be influenced by both surgical factors (overheating during site preparation, excessive cortical compression, insufficient crestal bone width) and prosthetic variables (type of implant/abutment connection, entity and location of implant/ abutment micro-gap, multiple abutment disconnections, cement remnants). Numerous studies suggest that early marginal bone resorption is influenced more by prosthetic phases than by surgical phases. The apico-coronal positioning of implants and the use of long prosthetic abutments seems to be effective in preventing MBL. Additionally, recent findings relating to both peri-implant mucosal thickness and the effects of implant surfaces (machined and traditional rough surfaces) in the limitation of MBL will be discussed.

Abstract:
Hyaluronic acid is know since 1934. It has been shown to be involved with most of the regenerative mechanisms in both soft and hard tissues. In vitro and animal studies have demonstrated that HA significantly increases the tensile strength of granulation tissue, stimulates clot formation, induces angiogenesis, and increases and does not interfere with the calcification nodules during bone formation.
Furthermore, HA facilitates cell migration and differentiation during tissue formation and repair of both soft and hard tissues. Recently, it has been shown to improve periodontal ligament cell viability, and even early osteogenic differentiation in vitro.
All these aforementioned properties are essential for tissue regeneration and wound healing. This presentation will explain how hyaluronic acid can facilitate and improve daily procedures in dentistry like the Hygenic stage, soft and hard tissue regeneration.

Abstract:
Recently more and more affordable and quick plasma devices came available on the market.
Hydrofylic and activated surfaces have shown to osseointegrate faster and better. Recently results on abutments have superior tissue integration.
In this lecture Jan-Willem Vaartjes will elaborates on:
- Introduction plasma / UV in the dental industry – devices, applications and operating principle
- Scientific evidence of Plasma / UV activation of titanium and possible benefits
- Practical use of Plasma gas in a dental office

Abstract:
In today's society, a beautiful smile holds significant impact, which is reflected in the rising demand for advanced dental treatments at our private practice in Deventer. Dental science has progressed far beyond isolated solutions, and we now focus on the comprehensive and harmonious integration of multiple dental specialties for better patient outcomes.
The relationship between restorative dentistry and implant dentistry is multifaceted, encompassing pre-treatment planning, preparation, and post-implant positioning. It's a dynamic interplay that demands meticulous consideration and expertise. Our keynote explores the inherent challenges, triumphs, and the intricate dance that occurs when these two domains unite to redefine smiles and lives.
Orthodontics not only bestows aesthetic perfection but also lays the groundwork for lasting oral health. When combined with implant dentistry, it serves the dual purpose of enhancing smiles and restoring lost function through dental implants.
We will uncover the indispensable need for digital treatment planning in orthodontic en restarative intervention in the context of dental rehabilitation plans, showcasing real-world case studies that demonstrate how the alignment of teeth can serve as the cornerstone for successful implant outcomes.
